one less car on the street

about a year since i last wrote about transportation. since my last rant, many things have changed. i finished school, i started my introduction into human services and actively participated in some community organizing.

after watching a program about how my hometown –guadalajara– is having a bit of success starting a bike line and some awareness about the situation on cars and pollution, i decided to do my part. i will not use a vehicle twice a week, for starters. i coordinated with housemate ellee to take andi to school, with friend ricar to pick her up, and i took the bus.

a warm feeling embraced me as i exit snowdrop –home– the sun smiled. four blocks to get to the bus stop, i could hear the birds, some cars, some neighbors.
i run to catch the bus, for i didn't want to wait 15 more minutes for the next one. people were seating there, all in their own world. still, two women looked up and smiled at me. such difference from driving. happy happy i got to work.
